Wellness is an interactive process of becoming aware and practicing healthy choices to create a more successful and balanced lifestyle.
Wellness addresses the broader spectrum of your body and encompasses the overall balance of your physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Here we have shared 5 simple but effective steps you can take to better your quality of life that welcome wellness as a change in lifestyle and not an end goal to be achieved.
Step 1: Surround yourself with positive and supportive people
Having similar, like-minded people in your social circles is important for cultivating quality relationships. By identifying those things that are important to you as an individual and building connections with others who are all working towards the same goals, you can find the journey to wellness far more enjoyable, plus you can form strong bonds and friendships that can’t be replicated in other ways of life.
Step 2: Eat well
Eating healthily helps to increase focus when practising mind-body techniques, especially with a reduction in processed foods, refined sugar and artificial ingredients. A balanced diet will make you feel better on the inside whilst energising your mind for the day ahead – we know how important food is at Bliss! Pay attention to your body, take care of it and your body will take care of you.
Step 3: Sleep well
Everyone is different but you probably know how much sleep you need to feel good. Getting the right amount of sleep each night helps you to enjoy the day, function productively and feel better about finding time for wellness.
Step 4: Know your values and live them
Knowing your values better results in an increased clarity and focus for your goals. Your values can be used to define your priorities and these priorities can determine how to best spend your time and energy. Knowing your values can greatly streamline your life and efforts, making decisions easier to make and wellness easier to achieve.
Step 5: Practice gratitude
Being thankful for the things we have and the people around us can unshackle us from the feelings associated with negative emotions. Being grateful has been linked to higher levels of optimism, more frequent happy moods and a higher sense of belonging. Practice ways to express gratitude, and you can expect to have a better understanding and appreciation for all your actions, thoughts and feelings. In turn, this will influence your perception of overall quality of life and therefore your journey to wellness!
