Close your eyes and think of how relaxed you feel surrounded by the beauty and healing the sea emanates, walking on the shore and having the water touch you, hearing the rhythm of the waves…

The stress of everyday life melts away, and your whole self benefits. The sea has healing powers for us. So imagine how you would feel after a treatment based on the same active ingredient – the sea!.

Being by the sea can boost your health. The use of water, combined with an abundance of fresh air, sunshine, proper diet, exercise, rest, recreation and pleasant surroundings, effects a cure.

Many Health & Spa Resorts provides the perfect conditions for a healthy holiday because the are located by the sea. Activities conducted under perfect environmental conditions, can accelerate healing by promoting relaxation.

Sound Of Sea Waves
Let Yourself Experience the Relaxing and Healing Aura of the Sea.

Researchers have discovered that the sound of waves actually alters the wave patterns in the brain, soothing you into a deeply calm and relaxed state.

Relaxing in this way can help revitalize your mind and your body. The sound of the waves is just one of the health benefits of being beside the seaside.

Fresh Air from the Sea
Why a Day at the Beach Lets You Sleep Better, and Reduces Stress.

Have you ever wondered why you always sleep more soundly after spending the day on the beach? It’s because of the sea air. The smell of the seaside is caused by dimethyl sulfide gas, the most abundant biological sulfur compound emitted to the atmosphere.

Sea air is full of healthy negative hydrogen ions–charged particles found abundantly in sea spray and concentrated in fresh air–which improve our ability to absorb oxygen by neutralizing damaging free radicals (positive ions).

These negative ions also help balance levels of serotonin, a body chemical associated with mood and stress. That is why a day at the beach leaves you feeling not only more alert and energized, but also deeply relaxed and able to rest more soundly.

Sun UV Rays
Find Relief Under the Sun.

The sun feels magnified and so relaxing. This is because exposure to light causes endorphins to be released. Endorphins are a group of peptide hormones that occur naturally in the brain which, when released, increase your body’s threshold for pain and affect the way you feel emotionally. Chemically, endorphins are very much like morphine.

Sunshine is a main source of vitamin D, and this vitamin plays a major role in strengthening the bones and boosting the immune system. Inadequate levels of vitamin D are associated with several autoimmune diseases and fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS).

The skin is the largest organ of the body. Your skin absorbs chemicals and substances, which it attempts to eliminate through sweat. Although care must be taken to avoid overexposure to ultraviolet (UV) rays, sunlight is known as a natural remedy for various skin conditions. The UV light from the sun slows production of skin cells and reduces inflammation.

Seawater
Outdoor activities give you the advantage of bathing in a natural therapeutic pool ... the sea.

Water has great abundance on the Earth, and of that abundance about 97% is sea water. Sea water contains about 3.5% by weight of salt (sodium chloride). 83 elements of the periodic table, biologically available, are found in sea water. Ninety nine percent of the mineral salts in sea water are composed of five main elements:

  • Chlorine 55.0%
  • Sodium 30.6%
  • Sulfur 7.7%
  • Magnesium 3.7%
  • Calcium 1.1%
  • Potassium 1.1%
  • Others 0.8%

The beneficial qualities of seawater have been known to mankind for centuries and have been noted as having a great healing effect. Sea water contains many minerals needed by your body to help heal and detoxify. It helps heal wounds, reduces infection and promotes pain relief. In recent years, studies regarding ocean water benefits have shown that conditions such as arthritis, psoriasis and even depression are improved by ocean water swimming.

Beach Sand
Outdoor activities use the natural properties of beach sand to enhance your workout.

Sand acts as a natural exfoliant, helping the old skin to shed more quickly and improving its natural regeneration. It also makes an excellent surface for exercising.

By doing so you have the advantage of this extra resistance that sand imposes on your muscles, which maximizes the effects of any fitness regime.
