5 Amazing Things To Sightsee In Bali

BLISS, EXPERIENCES, PEOPLE, SIGHTSEEING

We asked Made Bara...

... one of our amazing drivers from our Seminyak Sanctuary, what the best 5 sightseeing destinations are for our ladies and here is what he had to say...

My top 5 sightseeing choices in Bali:
Tirta Empul Temple
Tegalalang Rice Terreace
Ubud Monkey Forest
Uluwatu Temple
Tanah Lot Temple

TIRTA EMPUL TEMPLE

Tirta Empul is a favourite of many of our guests who are looking for both a beautiful historic and spiritual experience. It is 1.5 – 2 hours drive away from our sanctuaries located in the village Manukaya Tampaksiring in this area there is also a presidential palace which was built after Indonesian independence and is located in the village. Tirta Empul is one of the heritage sites. For travellers who want to immerse themselves in the experience and the water we are there to walk you to your destination and talk to you about the experience. You need to wear a sarong in this Holy place. Used as a bathing place for melukat Hindus, the goal is to clean the physical body and the spiritual and the tourists that want to experience in the magical power can take a bath in the spray-spray showerhead that flows into a pond using traditional Balinese dress.

TEGALALANG RICE TERREACE

Rural Tegalalang located at 5km northern part of Ubud village and has views of the rice fields. Rice terrace is designed very beautiful and beautiful rice fields and grooves and precisely located on the edge of the hill. In this place you will see the Balinese farmer do their rice field in oblique area complete with irrigation system you will enjoy the beautiful panorama valley with rice terrace. This is one of the tourist icon in Bali and many visited by tourists every day. Our guests love to take photos with the green rice paddies behind them as they are vast and interesting to look at.

UBUD MONKEY FOREST

Ubud Monkey Forest is a cool little rain forest inhabited by several group of monkeys and other tropical animals. 'Monkey forest' in Bali language is 'Vanara wana’ and means 'scattered on the island', and Ubud Monkey Forest has a very important function within the communities, its vital role is to keep the forest naturally in order to enable the wild animals to thrive. Beware though, the monkeys have a pecking order with the strongest at the front so they can receive the goodies (bananas) that the guests may bring in. They are not scared to jump on your bag to take what they want but there are staff who help you feel safe.

ULUWATU TEMPLE

Uluwatu is a temple meaning sad heaven located in Badung, in the district of Kuta Pecatu village. This temple was originally used as a place to worship a holy priest from the 11th century named professor kuturan. He spoke the teachings of the rules of the indigenous village. This temple is also used to worship the holy priest that followed namely dang hyang nirartha. The temple itself stands firmly at the top and at the tip of a very steep cliff 97 meters high, perched on a cliff protruding into the sea. The sea view here is very beautiful around the temple there is small forest inhabited by monkeys, we advise visitors to keep belongings close and out of sight as there are mischievous monkeys here. Attractions for tourist are put on every evening before sunset where you can watch the kecak dance, with an amazing background of an extremely beautiful sunset.

TANAH LOT TEMPLE

Tanah Lot is a natural tourist attraction which is very popular with local and foreign tourist. There are 2 temples located in Tanah Lot beach, first temple located on top of the boulder and the other located on top of a cliff that juts into the sea. Tanah Lot Temple is a place of worship of the Gods that guard the sea and this temple is located in the middle of the sea. For Hindus who pray in the Tanah Lot Temple they can only reach it at low tide where the people could cross to the Tanah Lot Temple which is said to house a Holy snake that they pray to. There are also many markets leading into the temple where you can buy trinkets and Balinese gifts. Many people visit the Tanah Lot Temple for sunset or if you would like it a little more quiet it is best in the late morning.

Love it! Our drivers are all so helpful and are like your own personal tour guides as you can see here and they love taking our wonderful ladies and showing you the sights of Bali. They are all a wealth of information and are pretty good at taking photos for you too.

We are a bit chuffed that we won the best Cultural Retreat GLOBALLY in the World Luxury Hotel Awards for 2017 and our drivers are one of the main reasons why. (Along with our amazing food. Our gorgeous Indonesian hostesses and staff. Our beautiful Sanctuaries... lol.)

But sightseeing if that's your thing is pretty cool in Bali, especially when you get the inside scoop from our amazing local drivers.

If you want to let us know what you’re favourite sightseeing experiences were in Bali please share your photos on our FB page.
